It’s Cherry Blossom Festival time again and Ft. Wayne Taiko wouldn’t miss this wonderful event.  We will play in the opening ceremony from 12:00-12:15 and then again from 1:00-1:30.  Please feel free to come up and visit after the show! 

Something new and exciting is always waiting to be discovered and this is no exception.  The 2012 TEDx Fort Wayne “Rethink Fort Wayne” conference will be Saturday May 19th from 9AM-5Pm with FW Taiko performing from 1:30-1:45 at Cinema Center.  Come be a part of a great workshop and get re-energized through the rumble of the taiko!  

Valparaiso University meets Fort Wayne Taiko on Saturday May 5th.  We will perform from 2:45-3:15 as a part of their International Celebration.

How about a lovely and scenic drive to Wabash, Indiana for the Wabash FAME Festival? The Honeywell Center is the place to be on Saturday April 14th.  FW Taiko will be performing from 1PM-2PM and will be inviting the audience to come and explore the world of taiko with us.  Chris, Beth, Laura & Jackie are planning some taiko fun to share.  The Wabash FAME committee has an great line-up of performers so come and spend the day!

The Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs at IPFW is hosting a special event featuring Fort Wayne Taiko.  Come and enjoy a night of taiko drumming and interludes on Tuesday April 3rd from 7PM-8PM in the Walb Student Union Auditorium. The event is free of charge and open to the public.

What does Jason Mraz, taiko drumming and a women’s a cappella choir have in common?  These three elements come together on Sunday afternoon for the Dance Collective’s Choreographers Lab.  Towns of Harmony women’s choir will be singing “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz, creating the full score with just their voices, while three taiko drummers will be playing Taiko Bayashi.  Taiko Bayashi is a traditional taiko song that you can easily find on youtube but you won’t find it anywhere else performed like you will see it on Feb 19th.  Tickets are $8 Adults, $5 Children and you get to evaluate each performance and write comments of what you liked/didn’t like as these are a creative “work-in-progress”.  Go to www.fwdc.org for more information on the event.

Come see Fort Wayne Taiko perform at the ATA Black Belt Academy Regional Taekwondo Tournament on Saturday Feb 4th at 10:30 AM.  We will be at the Grand Wayne Center Convention Hall B2C.  What could be better than the martial arts and taiko!

The East Wayne Street Center has been serving Fort Wayne for over 45 years striving to improve the overall living conditions for families whose income is below poverty level. Have you ever wanted to get a chance to play the taiko drums? Here is an opportunity for you.  A few members of Fort Wayne Taiko will be at the Avilla Library to do a lecture/demonstration on Wednesday July20th at 6PM    Come and experience the  drums and learn some of the basic elements of taiko.

 Join FW Taiko in Kendallville this Saturday, June 18th, at 10:30 am as we perform and invite audience members to join us on-stage to play the drums and to explore stance, strike and rhythms.  Come see us at the Childrens Stage, Main St. Kendallville, IN.
